Walt Disney said, “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.” The same concept obviously applies for the always changing and evolving Disney World. 2015 should be an exciting year around the resort, and today I will share my Top 5 things that we are looking forward to the most around Disney World!
Honorable Mention: 2015 Epcot Flower & Garden Festival
The event that I’m anticipating the most this year is the Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot. The Flower & Garden Festival 2 years ago tried its hand in food/drink stands to go with the topiaries and live music and it has been a perfect addition to the festival. Each year Food & Wine seems to get more and more crowded but Flower & Garden remains relatively quiet. The low crowds are a huge plus but the food and drinks are excellent as well (Top 5 Alcoholic Beverages at 2014 Flower & Garden Festival, Part 1 and Part 2 of Outdoor Kitchen Reviews for 2014 Flower and Garden Festival). Finally, there really isn’t a better time of year to see Epcot. The topiaries are incredible and seeing what they do with all of the vegetation around the park is really a beautiful sight to see.
5) Avatarland Progress at Animal Kingdom
Seeing some of the aerial shots from early construction has been exciting, but I cannot wait to see some vertical progress and really get a feel for what it could eventually look like over at Animal Kingdom. I was never a huge fan of the idea of Avatarland and still think the space could have been used better as something else but I am still very excited about what they are doing over in former Camp Minnie Mickey. Seeing some more progress in the park is one of the things I am most excited to see around Disney in 2015.
4) Polynesian Village Resort Construction
Watching those bungalows go up on the water is something that I simply can’t take my eyes off of when around Bay Lake, and I absolutely cannot wait to see the finished product (hopefully the inside firsthand too but I doubt it). I wasn’t wowed by the lobby remodel but am still dying to see Trader Sam’s open up at the resort as well as some other desperately needed refurbs around the resort.
3) The Removal of the Big Expletive Hat at Hollywood Studios
Lets keep it short and simple. I cannot stand that hat blocking what could be an amazing view down Hollywood Blvd, and cannot wait to see it gone tomorrow! This may be something early in 2015 but it still counts. P.S relocation is fine with me just put it out of the way or somewhere that it actually fits in with a flowing theme.
2) Disney Springs
The artwork for Disney Springs looked incredible and now that areas like The Landing are starting to look close to the finish product I am getting very excited for a new and improved shopping/nightlife area for the resort. The new restaurants look like amazing additions to the area and the overall theme is one I would love to visit more often on our many trips to Disney. Watching Disney Springs slowly unveil will arguably be the most exciting thing to watch all year at Disney for instant gratification sake!
1) Hollywood Studios Announcements
We all know they are coming and what they likely will be, but I NEED DETAILS! I cannot wait to hear what Disney exactly has in store for us at Hollywood Studios, Hollywood Adventure, whatever they call it I’m good with it as long as they don’t cheap out on us. I’m hoping for obviously 1-2 E-Ticket Star Wars attractions and some highly themed eating/drinking areas, along with a real Pixar Land and not just Toy Story Playland. Hollywood Studios has needed some new crowd busting attractions for a while now and this year will/should/better be the year we finally hear what those attractions will be, making it my most anticipated moment of the year for Disney World. On a side note I am also very curious to see what happens with Osbourne Spectacle of Dancing Lights. The show is far and away our favorite Disney holiday tradition and if they cannot stay where they are I would love to see them moved and not just scrapped altogether.
