Some of the absolute best kept secrets in Disney World are the lounges in the resorts. When you aren’t too busy rushing to parks or making sure you get to your ADR on time take some time to sit down and grab a drink and a snack at one of the many amazing lounges spread throughout the resort. Many of the lounges actually offer some incredible food as well as a relaxed atmosphere. Did
you know you can order off of the Jiko menu at the Cape Town Lounge and Wine Bar? Most people don’t and this is just one of the many great lounges around Disney. So today we’re going to give you the Top 5 Lounges that you have to go visit.
Honorable Mention: River Roost (Port Orleans Riverside)
The River Roost is an old south “watering hole” with great charm, a full bar, and a few snacks. The reason this lounge made honorable mention is because when Yehaa Bob Jackson is giving his performance this lounge goes from a place to grab a drink to one of the most exciting places to be in Disney. He puts on a performance you will never forget and he gets the crowd involved as well. So before you check out the River Roost make sure you go on a Wednesday so you can catch Yehaa Bob on his piano.
5) Crew’s Cup (Yacht Club)
Crew’s Cup is located right next door to Yachtsman’s Steakhouse and it benefits greatly from this location. You can see where they age the meat for the steakhouse and even can order a couple of things off of the menu. However, this isn’t the only thing that makes Crew’s Cup so great. Crew’s Cup has an amazing atmosphere, the entire lounge feels like you’re in a log cabin in the Northeast with rowing gear all over. The bar is equipped to serve you anything your heart could desire, and not to mention a great spot to catch a game if ESPN Club is filled up.
4) Territory Lounge (Wilderness Lodge)
The Territory Lounge is located right above the check in area for Artist Point. The Lounge feels like a much grander version of Crew’s Cup almost. Instead of a little log cabin in the Northeast you are in a grand wooden lodge in the Northwest. The carvings in the wood are incredible and it really takes you to the Great Northwest. Did I mention that they have a terrific wine list and make sure you do not miss the fondue…it is a must try! Great place to grab a drink or an appetizer before your dinner at Artist Point.
3) Cape Town Lounge and Wine Bar (Animal Kingdom Lodge)
As I mentioned in the beginning Cape Town Lounge is connected directly to the Jiko kitchen and this is a HUGE benefit. Jiko is widely known as the best restaurant on property this side of Victoria and Albert’s and you can get the amazing food all while sitting in a quaint lounge and wine bar! To add to the amazing food it has a very unique modern African atmosphere and the largest collection of south African wine outside of South Africa.
2) Tambu Lounge (Polynesian Resort)
The Tambu Lounge is located at the entrance to Ohana and is a pretty plain little lounge that just fits in with the tropical feel. The reason it is on the list is for the legendary Lapu Lapu! A delicious tropical alcoholic drink served inside a pineapple…YES PLEASE! The lounge also has some great appetizers and is fully surrounded by windows so you can catch a few cool views of the resort.
1) Top of the World Lounge (Bay Lake Tower)
The Top of the World Lounge is located at the top of Bay Lake Tower and can only be accessed by DVC Members (Tip: Tell the DVC Cast Member near the
elevator door you are interested in joining and they will let you up). The lounge provides not only some of the best views of Magic Kingdom, Bay Lake, and the Seven Seas Lagoon, but also Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and even the Forbidden Mountain of Expedition Everest. We were lucky enough to go to the top while Illuminations was going on and then immediately after Illuminations we were able to watch Wishes. There is no doubt that Top of the World is among the best spots to be in the entire Disney World Resort. The lounge has a very relaxed modern atmosphere that fits the Bay Lake/Contemporary setting it is in. This is well worth going out of your way to go see and is the best lounge you can visit in all of Disney.
