The much-anticipated Seven Dwarfs Mine Train finally opened on May 28th and we had to get out and see if the ride lived up to the buzz! So I will give you a very brief review of what we thought of the ride, but we’ll leave out the details so we don’t spoil anything.
As we could all see during construction the detail on the outside of the attraction is second to none. It is an absolutely gorgeous structure that make New Fantasyland feel like the amazing addition it was intended to be.
The queue was incredibly detailed to the point where woodwork actually looks real and also looks like it has really has been around for a while despite being brand spanking new. We went through the FastPass queue so we did not see the new interactive games.
As you enter the loading area you see just how smooth the ride is at takeoff. It actually takes off
incredible quickly and you immediately get to see some of the best views in the park. You wind through some beautiful landscape before entering in to the mine. Inside of the mine you meet the dwarfs and heigh ho heigh ho its off to work you go. After the main lift inside of the mine you capture the best view you can get of New Fantasyland and in particular Beast’s Castle. The ride is incredibly smooth and well done but the main draw for me was the scenery. The rocking motion of the cars actually made the ride more smooth because it really prevents you from whipping back and forth through the turns.
My biggest complaint would have to be the duration as it is a very short ride and just as you are really getting into it, it’s over. I heard several people in the cars around us say “oh no is that it,” but at the same time they got right back in line because it did leave you wanting more.
Overall I would say that Seven Dwarfs Mine Train lives up to the hype and will be a Magic Kingdom staple that we all could not imagine not having in years to come.
Share your thoughts on the ride, what you like and dislike or what you are looking forward to the most.
